Digital technology - can teachers be replaced by technology in the future?

“Robots won’t replace teachers because they can’t inspire us.” This quote is so true, without teachers there won’t be communication skills, no manners, no role models, and no common sense. Children would not be able to sit GCSE’s or A-levels properly as there would not be any support or personal help for them, so if technology was to take over from teacher’s children’s grades would fall tremendously. Study suggests technology will never take over from teachers, as technology has not got the life experiences and knowledge to bring to the classroom. Teachers bring a change in a way technology never can. “A teacher leads, guides, facilitates and mentors a student.” (edsys, 2015) Teachers drive children forward to a brighter future, as they are full of passion and commitment in what they do, they encourage independent thoughts and learning to their students, this could never be achieve through virtual learning. As social media is getting bigger children should start to learn about safety on computers, how to protect themselves from any harm, and exploitation. Biggest problem that arises over technology is ‘Grooming’ under age children being groomed, children need to be taught how to keep themselves safe and avoid this situation from happening. Parents and teachers should also be told and taught on how to protect children from this too. Parents should always know what their child is up to on electronics these days as the world is growing bigger especially around social media and having big effects on children these days. When children start up a social media account, parents should put a parental protection on, this could contain having consent off parents before adding friend requests, play games, pay for thing online and so much more. “Books will soon be obsolete in the public schools…our school system will be completely changed inside of ten years.” (Thomas A Edison, 1995) This quote above is a very powerful quote, now looking forward to the future in teaching, and how it is now, books will be inexistent, and we will all be powered by technology. Numeracy is a huge part of every day life, it is included in everyone’s life, but children to tend to get bored if the subject is just related on adding, subtracting sums, it would be very boring for children.   The negative attitudes towards mathematics comes from children and also adults who are scared they can’t reach the result they want or need and then loose motivation, embarrassed to ask about certain areas as they can think of themselves as thick as their friend next to them is flying through the questions. How can storytelling be used in Primary Education?

  In schools, storytelling is a rich experience for children, usually happening before shaping texts in writing, and when telling stories for their own sake. This is what writing is built upon and skilled teachers know about its importance when using storytelling as part of the language curriculum to build and engage children’s literary skills. As Jimmy Britton describes: ‘reading and writing float on a sea of talk’ (1982, p.11). The benefits of storytelling are that it tends to develop children’s listening skills. Initiating writing, as children will tend to want to write their own version of a story and improving their wide range of language. What is the purpose of education?

  In my opinion the purpose of education is for children to have wider knowledge of the world and given endless opportunities to explore different experiences. It’s a form of understanding the styles and unique ways of the individuals, enlightening their thoughts and mind. Education is teaching with a logic too it and the reasoning behind it. Helps learners to discriminate the knowledge and ignorance, light and dark, day and night, space and time, life and death. The main reason of education is to bring things in to perspective such as learning the world is a sphere not flat, its not black but full of colour and shapes.
