How can teachers use technology effectively?

“Books will soon be obsolete in the public schools…our school system will be completely changed inside of ten years.” (Thomas A Edison, 1995)

This quote above is a very powerful quote, now looking forward to the future in teaching, and how it is now, books will be inexistent, and we will all be powered by technology. Teachers will have huge amount of pressure to be kept up to date with recent changes and new updates of technology. in todays classrooms we have big electronic screens where children can write and draw on, some schools have iPad or kindles to read books on, do homework and work sheets, these are provided by schools now. Schools are also asking children to complete homework online and upload to their classroom wall, so teacher shave to know how to access and mark these sheets.

“There are numerous ways that teachers can use technology in the classroom and many are already doing it. Some districts use interactive Smart Boards in place of traditional chalk or white boards in their classroom. These flat screen monitors are networked with the teacher’s classroom computer and the school’s internet connection. Interactive lessons in math, spelling, science and other subjects can be put on screen for students to participate in. The boards use touch screen technology and in some cases, kids are given handheld remote “clickers” that act as controllers for answering questions presented on screen.” (WiseGeek, 2019)

Teachers should be sent on courses to keep up to date with recent changes and learning different strategies on how to deliver technology effectively to their classroom.

To use technology effectively there is numerous ways this can be done such as, creating small video clips as a lesson plan to teach children about certain topics, so not all the teaching pressure is put on teachers to remember the whole information as they have put it on a small video clip, also engages children.

Don’t have to use this website you can just create a normal power point but adding effectives and colours to it. including graphs, video clips, questionnaires, sound effects and lots more.

Teachers opening study pages, such as somewhere children can access information relating to their homework task, and able to upload their homework task, this will also avoid homework getting lost or different excuses too. Easy and quick to upload. Creating social media account for the classroom such as Twitter, showing progress from children, their work and themes they are learning about, sharing new ideas around.

To gain student feedback ask the classroom, but you do get the odd children who don’t like speaking in front of other so using Mentimeter app, allows children to write their feedback down online and upload to create into a mind map on the screen but also being anonymous at the same time.
